We NEED parents and older children to volunteer as referee in order to have a program.  The job of a referee is just as important as the job as Head Coach and we cannot have a program for our children without your help.  Also, children in our Junior Referee program can also earn community service hours for school!  

The steps to become a referee or junior referee (for children 13 years or older) are as follows:

Step 1:  Complete the volunteer form YEARLY at www.eayso.org. 
Note:  Print out your form so you can see your AYSO ID at the top of the form.  You will need this ID to take the courses below.

Step 2:  Take the Safe Haven course for Referees  (one time ONLY)-R001  

Step 3:  Take the Basic Referee Course-R002

Step 4:  Take the Referee Companion Course- Field Portion (check website for dates)
Note:  For U8 divisions you can start Refereeing games as soon as you complete Steps 1 through 3, which are all online.

SAFE HAVEN CLASS REQUIRED FOR ALL REFEREES
Safe Haven is a program instituted by AYSO to comply with the Child Protection Act of 1993.  Each team must have a certified coach that has taken this class.  AYSO requires all volunteers are certified through the Safe Haven Program. The class goes over Child Protection, safety rules and volunteer liability protection.

Our hope is that more parents will be interested in giving the referee position a try. Our coaching program will be focusing on teaching our coaches and players the importance of treating the referees with respect and civility. Our goal is that every game has a full referee team assigned to it; and that no one individual has to spend the entire day refereeing games because we just don't have enough to cover all of the assignments.
